OTTAWA, ON, Oct. 9, 2026 /CNW/ -- Today is World Egg Day, a global celebration of nutritious, versatile eggs and the dedicated farmers who produce them. To mark the day, Egg Farmers of Canada is recognizing the 1,290 Canadian egg farmers and farm families across the country who are dedicated to producing food right here at home. Through supply management, egg farmers work together to provide the eggs Canadians can count on year-round while meeting rigorous food safety and animal welfare standards.

"The care and commitment of egg farmers extends well beyond the farm gate—they play an important role in strengthening Canada's food system and contributing to Canada's bright food future," said Roger Pelissero, third-generation egg farmer and Chair of Egg Farmers of Canada. "There is a strong sense of purpose behind every Canadian egg. Today, we honour the people who have built their lives around feeding our communities and ensuring a resilient and dependable supply of eggs across Canada."
As World Egg Day gets underway, Egg Farmers of Canada has released a special video featuring Canadian egg farmers and showcasing the passion they bring to producing eggs. Everyone is invited to join the celebration by sharing their appreciation for egg farmers on social media using the hashtag #CanadianEggs and tagging @eggsoeufs.
