OAKVILLE, ON, Sept. 18, 2026 /CNW/ -- Graywood Properties ("Graywood") and Hankyu Hanshin Properties Corp. ("HHP") have officially broken ground on Claystone Condos, a seven-storey condominium community in Oakville's Bronte neighbourhood, marking the start of construction on the partners' first joint development in Canada. 

The milestone follows the strategic partnership announced by Graywood and HHP in January 2025, when HHP selected Graywood as its Canadian development partner and Claystone as its first investment in the Canadian market. The groundbreaking was celebrated by senior executives from Graywood and HHP, alongside representatives from the Town of Oakville.

Seamlessly integrated into Oakville's Bronte neighbourhood, Claystone is a seven-storey residential development designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects. The building's distinctive wave-like façade responds to its Lake Ontario surroundings while introducing a contemporary architectural expression to the Bronte streetscape. The interiors designed by Patton Design Studio, draw inspiration from Scandinavian and Japanese design principles, with a focus on natural materials, simplicity and a sense of calm. 

Claystone will offer thoughtfully designed residences with layouts optimized for livability, including wide, shallow penthouse floor plans and suites spanning up to approximately 1,830 square feet. The community will also introduce approximately 6,500 square feet of retail space at grade, contributing new commercial activity to the surrounding neighbourhood. 

Residents will have access to a comprehensive collection of amenities, including a fitness studio, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, an outdoor dog run, co-working space and bicycle parking at grade. An attended lobby and dedicated parcel storage will provide additional convenience and security.

Claystone is located within a five-minute walk of Bronte Harbour and the shops, restaurants and services of the surrounding Bronte community. The community also offers convenient access to the Bronte and Oakville GO stations, as well as the Queen Elizabeth Way.

Claystone represents Graywood's first development in Oakville and HHP's first project in Canada. Since announcing their partnership in January 2025, Graywood and HHP have expanded their relationship with a second joint venture at 241 Church Street in downtown Toronto, a 53-storey, 591-unit build-to-rent development.
