TORONTO, Oct. 30, 2026 /CNW/ -- Hub International Holdings, Inc. (HUB), a leading global insurance brokerage and financial services firm, announced a new multi-year national partnership with the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Under the agreement, HUB becomes an Official Partner and the Official Employee Benefits Partner of the PWHL in Canada, which begins at the start of the 2026-27 PWHL season across five Canadian markets: Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver.

"This partnership matches the size of our ambitions in Canada," said Tina Osen, President of HUB Canada. "The PWHL is growing fast and doing it right, and so are we. We're proud to support the next generation of players and coaches, to invest in the communities that make this game possible, and to stand with a league that is helping write the next chapter of hockey history."

One of the highlights of the partnership is Hockey Heroes presented by HUB International, a PWHL program inviting fans to nominate a local woman making a difference as a youth hockey coach in each of the PWHL's five Canadian team markets. As presenting partner, HUB will help select a national honouree who will be celebrated on stage at the PWHL Draft, spotlighting coaches who help grow the game from the ground up. Building on this commitment, a donation will be made to a charity in the winner's city focused on supporting coaching for women.

"We're proud to welcome HUB International to the PWHL and excited about what we can build together," said Amy Scheer, PWHL Executive Vice President, Business Operations. "HUB is partnering with us at an important moment in our growth, while also finding meaningful ways to celebrate the people who make hockey special through programs like Hockey Heroes. This partnership will introduce HUB to our passionate fanbase across Canada while helping us continue to grow the league, strengthen our connection to our communities, and celebrate those who are moving the game forward."

Women's sports have seen significant momentum in recent years. The PWHL reflects that growth: in-arena average attendance grew 28% this past season, as the league expands to 12 teams across the U.S. and Canada. In Canada, girls' and women's hockey registration reached an all-time high of 121,000 players this past season, a trend Hockey Canada has credited in part to the PWHL's rise.

HUB has more than 6,000 colleagues across Canada, delivering specialized advice across risk, insurance, employee benefits, retirement, and wealth management to clients coast to coast, including Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver, the very communities the PWHL calls home. The partnership reinforces HUB's commitment to being where its clients are, and where the causes they care about are growing.
