ScenarioGPT enables defence organizations to transform natural language into executable operational scenarios for simulation while supporting CAF modernization and NATO interoperability.
OTTAWA, ON, Oct. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- Larus is pleased to announce that the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) is providing advisory services and up to $800,000 in funding toward a $1.7M research and development project to further advance ScenarioGPT, an LLM-powered assistant that transforms natural language into executable military scenarios for command and control, simulation, and training.

ScenarioGPT addresses one of the most persistent challenges facing military planning and training: the time and labour-intensive process of developing realistic operational scenarios. Current workflows rely on specialized expertise and manual effort, making it difficult to rapidly adapt scenarios as missions evolve or produce them at the scale required for modern training and planning. By enabling users to generate executable scenarios through natural language, ScenarioGPT reduces scenario development time from weeks to minutes, allowing organizations to prepare for a broader range of missions with greater speed and flexibility.
Through the NRC IRAP-supported project, Larus will build on Canadian and NATO operational doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures to further refine ScenarioGPT while introducing a modern online interface, standardized APIs, and validating interoperability with partner systems. Together, these enhancements will improve integration readiness across defence organizations.
"Preparing for today's missions requires planning tools that can keep pace with an evolving operational environment," said George DiNardo, CEO of Larus Technologies. "This project advances ScenarioGPT's readiness for integration while enhancing its core capabilities. ScenarioGPT gives defence organizations a faster way to develop realistic scenarios while supporting the modernization priorities of the Canadian Armed Forces and our NATO partners."
Beyond defence, ScenarioGPT has broad dual-use applications for civilian markets including logistics, supply chain, route planning, emergency management, procurement and other areas, where organizations face similarly complex planning challenges requiring rapid evaluation of multiple courses of action.
"ScenarioGPT combines large language models with military doctrine to simplify one of the most complex parts of operational planning," said Dr. Rami Abielmona, Chief Technology Officer at Larus Technologies. "Instead of requiring specialized technical workflows, users can generate executable scenarios through human language, making advanced planning capabilities faster, more intuitive, and easier to integrate into existing defence systems."
ScenarioGPT works in tandem with Larus Foresight including combining rapid and dynamic scenario generation with other capabilities including fusion, analysis, simulation, and optimization, to improve the reliability and traceability of AI-based outputs.
This project, with NRC IRAP support, marks another step in Larus' mission to equip the Canadian Armed Forces and allied defence organizations with AI-powered decision intelligence that strengthens preparedness, accelerates planning, and supports mission success.
