SIMA Monthly Investment Fund Statistics - August 2026

Mutual fund and exchange-traded fund (ETF) assets and sales

TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Securities and Investment Management Association (SIMA) today announced investment fund net sales and net assets for August 2026.

Mutual fund assets totalled $2.797 trillion at the end of August, up by $26.4 billion or 1.0 per cent since July. Mutual fund net sales were $4.7 billion in August.

ETF assets totalled $924.2 billion at the end of August, up by $27.6 billion or 3.1 per cent since July. ETF net sales were $15.5 billion in August.

August insights

  • Mutual fund and ETF assets reached new all-time highs in August. Mutual fund assets rebounded from July's decline, while ETF assets increased for the fifth consecutive month.
  • Mutual funds recorded their 16th consecutive month of positive net sales. All four long-term asset classes saw inflows, led by bond funds.
  • Compared to the first eight months of 2025, long-term mutual fund net sales more than doubled in the same period this year.
  • ETF net sales reached $15.5 billion in August, more than doubling the August 2025 total.
